Patricia Urquiola

Best Italian Interior Designers Our Top 5 Picks

Spanish by birth, and Italian by choice, Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain and studied architecture in Madrid before graduating from the Milan Politecnico in 1989. She is one of the best Italian interior designers in the world and the keywords for her work are rigour and emotion, innovation and mental comfort. She was mentored by some of the masters of Italian industrial design: Achille Castiglioni oversaw her graduate thesis, and Vico Magistretti, with whom she designed her first projects. She learned her craft in Italy and opened a studio in Milan in 2001, where she has developed a truly global enterprise. Some highlights from her career include her encounter with Maddalena de Padova (1990), her collaboration with Piero Lissoni (1996-2000), and her partnership with Patrizia Moroso (since 1998).

Dimore Studio

Best Italian Interior Designers Our Top 5 Picks

Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran invested in their individual experience with the profession and study of Design, Art and Fashion, and founded DIMORESTUDIO in 2003. Since that moment, they have designed and carried out every project in a personal and recognizable way: objects created by historical design masters live together with reclaimed materials and other “bespoke” objects to create and forge a particular atmosphere. A timeless visual and emotional pathway. Research focused on details makes every creation, sign, proposal, suggestion, innovation and reference simple, albeit sophisticated. A language inspired by a set of emotional alchemies made of unexpected choices, preservation, inventions, appreciation of prints, lights, lacquers and oxidations. An uncensored aesthetic where each item has its own power and expressive “raison d’être”, while representing a part of the ensemble as the protagonist.

At Milan Design Week 2019, Dimore Studio established an amazing collaboration with Dior. This was an exclusive collection between these two companies, both some of the best Italian interior designers, where they created objects that resembled the surrealism and cubism art. Their focus sat on the concept of different metals such as gold, silver, and bronze.

Antonio Citterio

Best Italian Interior Designers Our Top 5 Picks

With work in every significant museum’s contemporary design collection, Antonio Citterio is a knowledge broker for innovation in design and architecture, being considered one of the best Italian interior designers. His humble demeanour and environmental sensitivity put form at the service of function, elevating both. Salone del Mobile 2019 saw the launch of a series of new elements in B&B Italia Maxalto’s collection that direct the brand’s rich history towards the future. Apollo is a new range of upholstered furniture, composed of three sofa types that balance linear and curved shapes in a fluid composition.

Piero Lissoni

Best Italian Interior Designers Our Top 5 Picks

In 1986, the Italian architect, art director and designer Piero Lissoni, together with Nicoletta Canesi, founded the interdisciplinary studio Lissoni Associati in Milan, focusing on architecture as well as interior and product/light design.  Lissoni and his multinational team thus comprehensively cover these areas, completing them with graphics, art direction and corporate identity. For Salone del Mobile 2019Knoll celebrated an important anniversary – the Bauhaus centenary – and presented the new collections alongside the iconic products of the brand. The new collections presented by Knoll designed by Piero Lissoni are perfectly coordinated with the recent items designed for the catalogue by the architect, that’s one of the best Italian interior designers.
