Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe, one of the brands attending the show, talks about quality, the premieres at Baselworld 2018 and the new generation of customers.
Founded in 1839, the traditional Patek Philippe watch manufacture has been run by its owners, the Stern Family, since 1932. Thierry Stern has been the president of the family business since 2009. Under his leadership, Patek Philippe combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative materials and new technologies. The results are watches that are considered to be the most sought-after in the world.

Patek Philippe produces around 40 one-of-a-kind works of rare handcraftsmanship per year, that don’t appear in the stores or the current collections catalog. The regular collection is also enriched annually with new models decorated by artisans at the top of their game. “The complete Rare Handcrafts collection is presented only during the show. These exclusive and unique timepieces are usually ready just in time for the opening of Baselworld. Thereafter, many of these timepieces leave our workshops for delivery, so the show offers a rare opportunity to see this amazing collection in its entirety”, says Thierry Stern.
