True Midtown Kitchen
True Midtown Kitchen was born from Chef Wesley True’s longing for authenticity in a corporate world. From its roots as an early century bakery, to its brick walls and long rustic wood tables the space speaks of authenticity. Food is prepared with local, fresh ingredients with tenacity,
creativity and care. The menu is inspired by products and culture surrounding the south east, but refreshed and elevated by Chef True’s experience in some of New Yorks most well respected establishments. This concept is even embraced in the cocktail menu where preprohibition classics meet house made25 tonics and fresh, local fruit juices. Finally, Midtown Kitchen is a family affair, owned and operated by members of the True family.

Museums

Mobile Carnival
The Mobile Carnival Museum opened in 2005 to rave reviews. The concept of a museum totally dedicated to Mardi Gras had been a goal of numerous native Mobilians for years. When the opportunity to lease the historic Bernstein-Bush house became available, the Mobile Carnival Association took the lead in securing the building lease and acquiring important and appropriate memorabilia and props. MCA coordinated a volunteer effort of historians, artists, lawyers, businessmen, architects, contractors, and seamstresses- just to name a few – who all gave of their time and talents to get the museum established. Families of monarchs donated royal robes, crowns and scepters. Members of local mystic organizations donated emblem costumes, favors, doubloons and such. The accumulation is beautifully displayed throughout the museum.
