The city programme of the Biennale INTERIEUR 2014 will be a visually linked trail along the Buda Island in the heart of Kortrijk City, an inspirational route with young design talent, cultural installations and spaces of encounter.

Kortrijk City / Broel School, Guido Gezellepad
EXHIBITION BY CURATOR JOSEPH GRIMA
SQM: The Quantified Home is an exhibition in the Broel School by curator Joseph Grima (GB) and his Genova-based collective Space Caviar (IT), which will combine excerpts of books, song quotes, and tweets along with original “flash fictions” from leading contemporary authors commissioned for Biennale INTERIEUR 2014.
SQM: ROOMBA BALLET
Kortrijk City / Broel School Gym
EXHIBITION BY CURATOR JOSEPH GRIMA
SQM: Roomba Ballet is the final phase of the exhibition SQM: The Quantified Home by curator Joseph Grima (UK) and his Genova-based collective Space Caviar (IT), which will take place in the gym of the Broel School. It represents the apotheosis of the smart home in a choreography of iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaners that viewers can watch from the mezzanine. The project is a collaboration between Space Caviar, programmer and designer Pietro Leoni, and a choreographer to be selected.
INTERIEUR BISTRO
Kortrijk City – Broel School / Guido Gezellepad
DESIGNERS OF THE YEAR 2006-2013
The Belgian Designers of the Year from 2006 to 2013 worked together on the design for the Interieur Bistro.
Encounters, experiences and Belgian hospitality take a central role in the Interieur Bistro. The former canteen of the Broel School is the place to be, radiating authenticity. The design of the Bistro’s interior underlines the character of the canteen and also plays on the theme of ‘Belgian absurdity’: expect a fantastical canteen. Honest Belgian cuisine such as mash, game and eel are on the menu. At the same time, it encourages moments to share, with big jugs of Belgian beer, chunks of local cheese and coffee served with gingerbread.
The Interieur Bistro welcomes up to 150 guests and is open from lunchtime until late. Visitors can enjoy a quick lunch, afternoon coffee, aperitif and dinner in the evening. The entrance is located near the Guido Gezellepad, next to the historic bridge and the Broel Towers.
Catering by Delicious Catering from Bruges.
The Belgian Designers of the Year – Alain Berteau (2006), Nedda El-Asmar (2007), Stefan Schöning (2008), Sylvain Willenz (2009), Bram Boo (2010), Nathalie Dewez (2011), Alain Gilles (2012), and Jean-François D’Or (2013) – are the second collective to design the Interieur Bistro, after a successful first edition with Design Marketo from London during the Biennale INTERIEUR 2012.
DE/RECONSTRUCTION BY GOOSE
Kortrijk City – Buda Tower / Korte Capucijnenstraat

GOOSE will surprise the Interieur audience with a specially created design performance, which will unite various disciplines with the aim to surprise, question, confuse and inspire. De/ReConstruction will allow the audience to get close to GOOSE and to experience their music inside-out, from the point of view of the musician.

Doors: 8.30 pm – Start: 9.00 pm – After-party
Location: Buda Tower, Korte Kapucijnenstraat, 8500 Kortrijk

PLATFORM FOR YOUNG TALENT
Ventura Interieur is taking part in the Biennale Interieur for the second time in 2014 and is a curated event that focuses on displaying the most creative expressions of the contemporary international design world.
Ventura Interieur is based on the successful concept behind Ventura Projects, an initiative by Organisation in Design (NL) in partnership with Biennale Interieur. In the Buda Factory and the Buda Gallery on Buda Island in the centre of Kortrijk, Ventura Interieur presents a diverse mix of design projects and objects created by individual designers, design collectives, new brands, art and design academies, institutions and design centres. Through this platform, Ventura Interieur aims to show the audience of the Biennale what is happening in contemporary design now and in the broader cultural sectors related to the design world.

INTERIEUR AWARDS – SPACES WINNER
The Fusions Bar by Lukas Wegwerth and Wendelin Kammermeier from Berlin convinced the jury of the Interieur Awards with a strong graphic look and a concept that puts absurdity and confusion central “we make it happen, just like strawberries in winter.”
The Fusions Bar will be open from lunchtime until 9:00 pm
Catering by Delicious Catering from Bruges.
